The fourth performance, which I actually consider the premiere, was Book: OME1 at Hallwalls on April 26th, 2006. We used around 40 pages (of what was ready at the time I handed them out) with a few members sharing pages. We performed two sets (41’ and 42’) with a break between. Both sets used the same formal plan. The note to the musicians explains the plan. During the rehearsals I had some ideas about how to start the piece, so I asked that the first set start with saw, vibraphone, and two bass clarinets, with the quintet coming in after a while, then everyone else joining ad lib – from there entrances and choice of pages and even interpretation of pages was open to the actual situation. The second set started with the quintet which was joined after a while by the tenor sax and two baritone saxes.
